Manchester City’s aspirations of signing Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane to bolster their attacking options this summer have hit the buffers.
That’s according to The Times, who report that the England captain is ‘increasingly likely’ to stay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is digging deep to try and keep the striker in north London for one more season, with the club reluctant to losing his talents in front of goal.
Kane has been heavily linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium throughout this summer’s transfer window and City manager Pep Guardiola, speaking ahead of his side’s 1-0 defeat to Leicester City in the FA Community Shield just over a week go, even admitted that the club were keen on signing him.
Spurs, as per this latest report, believe that City have left it too late to negotiate a deal for the 2018 World Cup Golden Boot winner, who they would struggle to replace.
Elsewhere, City right-back Yan Couto, according to a report by the Sunday Mail via the GlasgowMail, has urged the club to give him the green light to complete a move to Celtic.
The full-back, who joined City from Brazilian outfit Coritiba last year, has been closely linked with a loan move to the Scottish giants in the past week or so in the prospect of them granting him more regular first-team football.
Now, according to the report, it is claimed that Couto has been pleading with City to allow him to seal a temporary exit.
The Brazilian attended Celtic’s Uefa Europa League clash with Jablonec on Thursday evening and is said to have been blown away by the atmosphere generated by the home fans.
Harry Kane? Jack Grealish? Manchester City are aiming big this summer where transfers are concerned, as they aim to defend their league crown — and it could be a very exciting summer.
