Manchester City are expected to win the Premier League yet again this season to make it four titles in five years, according to this year’s set of predictions from the BBC pundits.
City won the league at a canter last season, topping the table by 12 points to regain their title from the clutches of Liverpool after a season without the crown. They also made it four consecutive Carabao Cup triumphs and reached the Champions League final for the first time, suffering defeat to Chelsea.
But after adding Jack Grealish to an already stacked squad in a British record £100m deal, City are being heavily backed to retain their title and go back-to-back once again this season by 20 pundits asked to predict the top four of the Premier League this season.
The select BBC pundits are unanimous in their belief that City will be involved in the title race this season with everyone backing them to finish in the top two, while 13 of the 20 believe that they will be crowned champions.

Many pundits point to the club’s pursuit of striker Harry Kane from Tottenham as being a key figure in their thinking, but former City defender Micah Richards believes they will win it with or without him.
“It’s tougher than ever to call it this season but I am still going to say City, even if they don’t get Kane.
“John Stones has signed a new deal and, with him and Ruben Dias, the defence is sorted. When you look at their options in midfield and going forward, it’s just not fair on the other teams and, with the form that Raheem Sterling was in at the Euros, they still have to be favourites.”
Former Everton and Swansea defender Ashley Williams also believes that to be the case, although he is expecting big things from Sterling too.
“City are the best team and squad in the league. They have added Grealish and if they get Kane then the title is done. Even without Kane, or another top-class striker, as a team they have got goals everywhere and their style of play doesn’t need a recognised centre-forward. I’m expecting a more productive season from Sterling too.”
