Kevin De Bruyne is a doubt for Manchester City’s game with Norwich after missing training on Friday.
The Belgian returned back to the squad still carrying an injury from the European Championship, and didn’t manage a full training session with the squad in the two weeks before the season began. Despite that, he came on for the final ten minutes against Tottenham as Pep Guardiola sought for his team to get back into the game.
However, De Bruyne failed to train with the group on the day before the Norwich game to leave him uncertain of a place in the squad on Saturday when the Blues will look to win their first game of the season.
In better news for Guardiola, Ilkay Gundogan has shaken off a shoulder problem picked up in the Spurs defeat. There were concerns immediately after the match that the German could be missing for a considerable amount of time, but medical assessment has confirmed that it was only a minor issue and he is able to feature against the Canaries.
Guardiola has more options this week after the rest of his squad continued to build their fitness up. Kyle Walker, John Stones, Gabriel Jesus, and Aymeric Laporte all have more training under their belt, having been afforded extra rest after their efforts in the European Championship.
Phil Foden is definitely ruled out of the game with the foot injury that he picked towards the end of England’s run in the competition, and he could be joined on the sidelines by De Bruyne.
