Man City step up Harry Kane plan after securing Jack Grealish deal

Man City step up Harry Kane plan after securing Jack Grealish deal

Manchester City will intensify their efforts to sign Harry Kane after completing the signing of Jack Grealish.

Grealish will soon be announced as City’s first major signing of the summer after a £100m deal was agreed with Aston Villa to make him the most expensive purchase in the history of the Premier League and British football. However, that title may not be his for long as the Blues continue to pursue a deal for Tottenham striker Kane.

City’s number one priority for this transfer window was a number nine, even if they have moved to sign Grealish before the start of the campaign because of the relative ease of the deal. Kane remains firmly in City sights, although it is accepted that it may take until the final days and hours of the transfer window before an agreement can be reached.

The England captain will almost certainly not line up for either team on the opening weekend of the Premier League season when they meet in ten days, as he is still a week away from starting training again given the need to quarantine on his return from a family holiday. And the numerous obstacles to a transfer that still have to be overcome will need time.

City remain a sizable distance apart from Tottenham on the valuation of Kane, and will also need to ensure their position is financially secure enough through player sales to be able to bid for the 27-year-old.

Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo is still waiting to speak to his star man more than a month after taking charge, while Daniel Levy is renowned as a tough negotiator and has also made it clear he does not want to sell the player.
