Bernardo Silva is only topped by Liverpool star Mohamed Salah in the Premier League pecking order this season.
That’s the verdict from BT Sport pundit and former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, who waxed lyrical about Bernardo following his man-of-the-match display against PSG.
Manchester City delivered a strong message to their star-studded opponents and the rest of Europe with a superb comeback victory at the Etihad Stadium last night.
And their in-form Portuguese sensation was, quite literally, front and centre against Lionel Messi and co.
Having fallen behind to a goal from Kylian Mbappe, the home side rubber-stamped Champions League progression courtesy of strikes from Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus.
That winner from substitute Jesus came following a sublime touch from the man in question.
Bernardo has been a shining light for City throughout the season, though – having been linked with a transfer away from the champions this summer – and Ferdinand thinks there is only one better player in the entire Premier League right now.
Speaking on BT Sport, the ex-United man said: ” It seemed he was one of the first players who was going to be out the door, he wasn’t happy with the game-time and wanted a new scene, but he came back and it shows you about application and attitude and putting yourself into the position to perform.

“After Mo Salah he’s been the best player in the Premier League this season, he’s been that good.
“In various positions [against PSG], he played like a false nine. He’s been great this year and I think he’s a wonderful footballer – 47 passes out of 47 went to a light blue shirt.”
Fellow pundit Michael Owen added: “If he was a player who likes to pass sideways and backwards, I wouldn’t be that impressed with that stat… but when you see him play. Playing in and around the box, you have to tip your hat to him, he’s a fine player and he’s [having] a fantastic season.”
