Guardiola defended over City substitute call
Pep Guardiola has earned the benefit of the doubt over his in-game decisions, according to former Manchester City midfielder Michael Brown. Guardiola surprised many in Monday’s 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace when he opted against making any substitutions despite the lack of a breakthrough in the Premier League game.
Two dropped points offers more encouragement to Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp’s side look to hunt down the champions. City’s manager said he had considered making changes when asked about it in his post-match press conference, but that he felt the team were in a good rhythm as they created chances to score yet failed to convert any.

Brown admitted that it was an obvious question to ask as the game progressed without a goal. However, he pointed out that Guardiola has been vindicated enough with his decisions at City – where he has won three of the last four Premier League titles – to be able to do whatever he thinks is best.

Sagna makes Foden comparison
Former Manchester City and Arsenal right-back Bacary Sagna has compared Phil Foden to Bukayo Saka for their ‘remarkable maturity’ on the field.
The player-turned-pundit was speaking to Genting Casino about both his former clubs, with City still firm favourites to retain the Premier League title and Arsenal ahead in the race for the final Champions League spot.
Sagna – who won the League Cup with the Blues in 2016 – picked out Stockport-born Phil Foden when asked who City’s standout player has been this season, and compared him to his fellow countryman and Arsenal star, Bukayo Saka.
