Pep Guardiola says that Manchester City have not been offered the chance to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar, contrary to recent reports.
According to RMC Sport, PSG are looking to offload the forward this summer and in the past weeks had approached City to propose a swap-deal.
While the report does not identify which player PSG wanted to take from the Etihad, other speculation suggests attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva was the player they wanted in exchange for Neymar.
However, when asked about the proposed transfer at a pre-season press-conference, Guardiola simply said: ‘It is not true, I’m sorry for them because the information was false.
‘Neymar is an incredible player and from the information that I have an incredibly nice guy.
‘Leave him to express the huge talent that he has in Paris alongside [Lionel] Messi and the other stars they have.’
Neymar moved from Barcelona to PSG in 2017 for a world-record £200million, with the Ligue 1 giants hoping that the Brazilian superstar would propel them to a first Champions League triumph.

However, while they have dominated domestically, European glory has eluded them still, with the final defeat to Bayern Munich in 2020 the closest they have come.
With two other star forwards, Kylian Mbappe and Messi, at the Parc des Princes, the club’s Qatari owners are reportedly happy to cut their losses with Neymar, although new manager Christophe Galtier has countered this by saying that the 30-year-old is in his plans.
Meanwhile, City are not in the market for a new forward, with the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and Jack Grealish already at Guardiola’s disposal, while the loss of Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling have been remedied by the signing of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.
Having also bought defensive midfielder Kalvin Phillips this summer, the only position the Citizens are looking to strengthen is left-back, with Brighton’s Marc Cucurella a long-time target to replace Oleksandr Zinchenko, who is set to follow Jesus to Arsenal.
